I am top 25% at a second tier law school. Did OK first semester, but very well in the second semester. I am applying to a top 20 law school (my alma mater) that wait-listed me twice.
What are the considerations when taking transfers? How "well" do you need to do to realistically have a chance? |

I hope you reminded the school that you were wait listed twice and are an undergrad alum. This means that they think fairly highly of you. If you're grades showed improvement that should certainly help your case. I'd look to take a transfer if their GPA was north of 3.0 and their grades showed improvement. We know if you had a 4.0 at a Tier 2 they wouldn't think twice about moving you into a Tier 1, so my feeling is that depending on the school you'll want to be somewhere in between. But also remember, showing improvement, being waitlisted, being an alum all makes a difference too. good luck!
